RAMIREZ-ALBORES, Jorge E.; LEON-PANIAGUA, Livia y NAVARRO-SIGUENZA, Adolfo G.. Mammals of the Piedra Canteada Ecoturism Park and adjacent areas, Tlaxcala, Mexico; with notes over noteworthy records for the area. Rev. Mex. Biodiv. [online]. 2014, vol.85, n.1, pp.48-61. ISSN 2007-8706. https://doi.org/10.7550/rmb.30485.
An inventory of the mammals inhabiting a coniferous forest and adjacent areas in Tlaxcala is presented, with 8 noteworthy records for the area. Data were obtained from records of scientific collections, field work in the area and recent literature. We recorded a total of 41 species belonging to 34 genera, 16 families and 8 orders, 13 of which are endemic to Mexico, 4 are protected under some category. The diversity of mammals in the study area is still under a negative ecological impact due to habitat transformation. Data from the study may be useful in the management plans of the park, but has to be supplemented with field research on distribution and abundance of species.
