Mex [online]. 2007, vol.11, n.4, pp.175-180. ISSN 1870-199X.  https://doi.org/10.22201/fo.1870199xp.2007.11.4.15720.

This study used a sample of 428 patients who received treatment in the Orthodontic’s Department at UNAM School of Dentistry. This study was conducted by registering the index of malocclusions according to the ANGLE classification from a sample obtained from the files in archives of patients attending the Orthodontic’s Department during the years 1998-2004. Individuals between 8 and 40 years of age were selected and put into a database with the clinical history of each patient, in order to be analyzed and to determine the type of malocclusion according to the ANGLE classification. Results showed that 226 patients (52.8% of the sample) were Class I, 145 patients (33.9% of the sample) were Class II and 57 patients (13.3% of the sample) were Class III all using the ANGLE classification. A descriptive, transversal and retrospective analysis of the data available was performed. No significant association between age, sex and type of malocclusion was found in this study.
