JUAREZ-ESTRADA, M.A. et al. Preparation and characterization of UV cured epoxy resin/montmorillonite coatings on carbon steel. Superf. vacío [online]. 2016, vol.29, n.3, pp.74-77. Epub 30-Oct-2020. ISSN 1665-3521.
In this study, was prepared nanocomposites based on Araldite 506 epoxy resin and organoclay. Nanocomposites were prepared at different ratios, they were deposited as coatings on carbon steel substrates and cured by UV radiation. The coatings were characterized by scanning electron microscopy (SEM), Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), X-ray diffraction (XRD) and thermogravimetric analysis (TGA). The corrosion protective effect was evaluated by means of visual analysis tests using a 5 % solution of sodium chloride and applying the standard ASTM D1654-05. The results showed that uniform coatings were obtained, the exfoliation occurred to the organoclay within the polymer matrix, the coated with 1 % organoclay exhibited the best corrosion properties of all synthesized coatings.
