DIAZ ALBA, Carmen Leticia. La Red Latinoamericana de Mujeres Transformando la Economía: construir puentes entre la justicia económica y la equidad de género. La ventana [online]. 2007, vol.3, n.26, pp.70-100. ISSN 1405-9436.
The Latin American Network of Women for a Transformation of the Economy or REMTE is a multinational network of women working on a feminist criticism of the free trade agreements and on proposals for an economy based on solidarity. This network is made up of grassroots organizations, and emphasizes popular education and participative methodologies. Most women in the REMTE are not economists or “experts” on international commerce, but they are all involved in the defense of women’s social, economic, and cultural rights. The network’s chief concern is developing and strengthening the position of women as individuals and as a group in order to build bridges between the economy and feminism.
