ALPUCHE HERNANDEZ, Amílcar  y  VEGA PEREZ, Lizbeth Obdulia. Prediction of Reader Behavior Based on Self-eff ectiveness. RMIE [online]. 2014, vol.19, n.60, pp.241-266. ISSN 1405-6666.

The objective of this paper was to determine if self-effectiveness in reading predicts reader behavior among first-graders in the state of Yucatan. The participants were 350 children. The Instrument of Observation of Achievement in Initial Reading and Writing (Escamilla et al., 1996) and the Self-effectiveness Scale in Reading (Escal) (Alpuche and Vega, 2011) were administered. The results indicate that the decoding factor predicts the current analysis of the text; the decoding and writing factors predict dictation; and the decoding factor predicts reader behavior. According to specialized literature in the area, the conclusion is that based on their beliefs of self-effectiveness in reading, students incorporate the necessary actions and strategies into their repertoire for developing their reader behavior with effectiveness.
