Resumen

This article shows that environmental programs consisting of a set of concrete, viable actions, designed and executed by high school students, can mitigate environmental problems in the school and community; such programs can also develop knowledge, values, skills, and competencies in young people with regard to environmental conservation. The article describes the way students are organized to carry out environmental actions, as well as the satisfaction they experience. The conclusion is that environmental programs are highly important and useful tools that should be designed and used in educational institutions to mitigate environmental deterioration at school and in the community.
