With the purpose of increasing the knowledge on the presence of endogenous gibberellins in apple tissue, immature seeds were collected during summer from developing fruits of Golden Delicious trees and analyzed using the gas chromatography-mass spectrometry technique. Gibberellins A₄, iso-A₇, A₉, A₁₂ and A₂₀ were identified. When [³H]-GA₄ was applied to the seeds of fruits, higher radioactivity was found in the bourse bud. These results are related to flower bud inhibition in apple trees.
