Resumen

RODRIGUEZ JIMENEZ, José Raúl. Undergraduate Sociology Studies at the University of Sonora.Origins, Evolution, and Current Conditions. Sociológica (Méx.) [online]. 2019, vol.34, n.98, pp.159-188.  Epub 09-Mar-2021. ISSN 2007-8358.

Today, most of the main institutional indicators for the undergraduate sociology major at the University of Sonora, Mexico, are performing unsatisfactorily. This article maintains that this is explained by the links among the institution, actors, and the discipline itself. This research is a case study using data from different sources. The author also describes the most important moments in the discipline (its origins, the lack of academic personnel, teaching, and, recently, faculty fatigue and aging) and maintains that its development is associated with the changes in institutional rules implemented over the last 40 years, as well as in the activities of the actors involved.

Palabras llave : sociology; University of Sonora; teaching; discipline.
