GONZALEZ MORFIN, Juan. The Maximato: a look from the private correspondence of Plutarco Elías Calles. Relac. Estud. hist. soc. [online]. 2022, vol.43, n.169, pp.23-45. Epub 17-Feb-2023. ISSN 2448-7554. https://doi.org/10.24901/rehs.v43i169.930.
Between 1929 and 1934, General Plutarco Elías Calles, who had finished his presidential term in 1928, maintained a decisive influence in the sphere of public power in Mexico that allowed him to control not only transcendent decisions, such as the election of the president in turn, but even the smallest actions of political actors. It is possible to gauge the general's dominance in the country's life through his private correspondence during this time. In this work, we have sought to delve into the different written communications to discover, by concrete examples, how far Calles' ability to influence national life encompassed. Also, through this correspondence, it has been sought to illustrate how the moment of its decline was lived.
