GALAZ RUIZ, Alberto; JIMENEZ-VASQUEZ, Mariela Sonia  y  DIAZ-BARRIGA, Ángel. Evaluación del desempeño docente en Chile y México. Antecedentes, convergencias y consecuencias de una política global de estandarización. Perfiles educativos [online]. 2019, vol.41, n.163, pp.177-199. ISSN 0185-2698.

Assessment of teacher performance is a strategy recommended by international organizations to align educational systems under market principles. With the implementation of such strategies, countries are urged to reconfigure the spaces in which teachers, specialists, private and public organizations interact with unequal degrees of power. Studies on their results, however, focus responsibilities on the individual level, obviating regional comparative approaches. This article argues that their implementation in Chile and Mexico acquires and requires particular attention. The purpose is to describe their evolution as well as their convergences at various levels of application. Starting from critical points, their assumptions and covert interests are discussed. The results show the consequences of these strategies in terms of their limitations for understanding the practices constructed in schools. The paper concludes that a comprehensive territorial perspective is essential in the design of such policies.
