One of the mayor achievements of formal education is the possibility to transmit values and the formation of frames of mind towards power and the political life. This purpose embodies different characteristics in the diverse proposals of formal education, with whom those values have mutually defining relations. This articles aims to show how this issue has been considered by the specialists who have studied the relations between education and society, to examine how the analysis of formal education's influence on the political culture of the societies has been raised and to suggest new prospects for an interpretative framework of the link between both social dimensions.
