The World Bank, the UNESCO, the OECD and the IDB are four of the international organizations that have a great deal of influence on the educational politics of developing countries, specially in higher education. In order to analyze the real impact of those agencies, we need to problematize their recommendations, their history and their features. This research finds four axes of analysis about educational politics (quality-evaluation; basic education vs. higher education; diversification of the educational options and of the funding sources) and shows how important the recommendations of those organizations -and specially the World Bank- have been to determine the policies that have been established in higher education in Mexico.
