Resumen

LANKSHEAR, Colin  y  KNOBEL, Michele. Problemas asociados con la metodología de la investigación cualitativa. Perfiles educativos [online]. 2000, vol.22, n.87, pp.6-27. ISSN 0185-2698.

Researchers often adopt qualitative approaches to research because they reject positivist assumptions they believe are integral to quantitative research. However, quantitative research emphasizes research 'virtues' that are often absent or underdeveloped in qualitative research. This article describes five key features of research as systematic social practice. These are (1) a well conceived research problem or research question(s); (2) an informed research problem or question(s); (3) an appropriate research design; (4) an appropriate approach to collecting data; (5) an analysis and interpretation component. The authors note that these features need to be well developed in qualitative research, and provide some specific examples of how qualitative researchers can begin to ensure that they are well developed.

Palabras llave : Qualitative research; research questions; research design; case study; data collection and analysis.
