In this paper, the authors analyze how political subjectivity and citizenship play a role in surviving women to cope with armed conflicts. A systematic review of literature available in data bases of indexed journals revealed that in war crises women are subjected to gender-associated violence, in patriarchal contexts that marginalize them as subjects of rights. Although this is not an inductive study, research findings are valuable insofar as they highlight the reflexive and transformative capacity of women’s practices as a contribution to mediating conflicts. This, in turn, reconstructs their status as citizens and social agents committed to justice and rights in their communities.
