The justice system in Germany is one of the most solid in the world. Two of the main reasons are the training process for future law professionals and the mechanisms to access the legal professions. This article analyzes different aspects of legal education and access to the legal professions in Germany. It is the result of a field research that the author conducted in Germany in 2016 with the support of the Konrad Adenauer Foundation, where he visited law schools, bar associations, and government offices, and interviewed professors, students, public officials, legislators, judges, lawyers, and other relevant actors in these issues. The ultimate goal is to bring elements and experiences from other countries to enrich the current debate in Mexico to improve the quality of legal education and the professional practice of law.
