Resumen

HERNANDEZ-ORDONEZ, Raúl  y  DOMINGUEZ-ESPINOZA, María G.. Resident doctorsÍ knowledge and attitudes about the COVID-19 pandemic. Rev. Mex. med. familiar [online]. 2023, vol.10, n.2, pp.57-63.  Epub 24-Jul-2023. ISSN 2696-1296.  https://doi.org/10.24875/rmf.22000085.

Background: It is imperative to explore how students prepare to learn about the COVID-19 disease since the success of their actions depends on such knowledge. Objective: To explore the knowledge, attitudes, and means of information residents used about the COVID-19 pandemic. Method: Study with a phenomenological design in which residents assigned to three centers participated, applying in-depth interviews from June to December 2020. The information analysis was carried out through iteration and recursion of discourse. Triangulation of data and researchers were used as validation methods. Results: 36 residents were interviewed, identifying adequate knowledge of the causative agent, transmission mechanism, and means of diagnosis, although insufficient. Regarding attitudes, concern is expressed about the feeling of vulnerability given by the residentsÍ condition. The information media used for professional updating were scientific articles, while conferences and official pages were the preferred means to learn about social and epidemiological behavior. Conclusions: Residents have knowledge consistent with the detection, identification, diagnosis, and treatment of COVID-19, although insufficient. The sources of information are periodical scientific articles.
