Leucism is a chromatic aberration, defined as the absence of melanin that is expressed in whole or in part of the plumage of a bird. We recorded an individual adult of American Coot (Fulica americana) with leucism in Lake Nabor Carrillo in Texcoco, State of Mexico. The American Coot is a bird with a wide geographic distribution, common in aquatic habitats from Alaska to northern South America. We observed this Coot on 29 and 31 May and 26 June 2020, in Lake Nabor Carrillo. Although there are several reports of birds with leucism, this record represents the first documented case of leucism for this species in Mexico.
