This report aims to analyze how gender variable is involved in the configuration of certain practices and tastes linked to cultural consumption, particularly reading and film, based on three case studies of adolescent girls of Jalisco, Mexico. It starts from the premise that the processes of change in youth subjectivities are reflected mainly in the various practices related to cultural consumption of teenagers in big cities. To complement the information some data from the survey “Consumption and cultural change among secondary school students in Jalisco” (2012) whose results formed the cartographies of cultural consumption in the State of Jalisco, will be taken. One of the questions that guide this analysis is how can we understand the meaning of such practices from the perspective of gender studies?
