This paper presents a review of the literature on gender violence in couples in immigrant communities. To this end, we seek to establish points of contact and divergence between the thematic studies conducted in Spain and publications outside the Spanish context. This is intended to show that gender violence in couples in immigrant communities is different from that experienced by native women, as socioeconomic and cultural obstacles that the first ones face, turn the abuse experience even more complex. Knowing the conditions of the migration process that make the immigrant women vulnerable to violence, is essential to raise effective interventions and prevention programs in immigrant communities.
