FIGUEROA PEREA, Juan Guillermo y FLORES GARRIDO, Natalia. Prácticas de cuidado y modelos emergentes en las relaciones de género: La experiencia de algunos varones mexicanos. La ventana [online]. 2012, vol.4, n.35, pp.7-57. ISSN 1405-9436.
The purpose of this article is to reflect on caretaking practices when they are carried out by males in the family sphere. The article begins with a few basic concepts regarding the way we conceptualize care and the way it organizes and gives rise to certain social relations in which links and antagonism by gender and class are cemented. It then presents empirical evidence on a group of males who engage in caretaking activities within their families, due to readjustments associated with separation or widowhood or the fact that their partners engage in work outside the home. The authors focus on the category of emerging models and consider aspects such as the causes and emergence of new social relations or the changes or permanence in the sexual division of labor and perceptions of opposition, evaluation and acceptance. The article ends with proposals to continue researching the issue.
