COHAILA, Edwin. Interpersonal trust and corruption in Peru: Structural equation modeling. Perf. latinoam. [online]. 2020, vol.28, n.56, pp.151-175. Epub 30-Ago-2021. ISSN 0188-7653. https://doi.org/10.18504/pl2856-007-2020.
The present article analyzes, through structural equation modeling (SEM), the effects of the perception of the fight against corruption by political and social institutions, the practices of micro-corruption of the individual, and the attitude of tolerance to corruption in relation to interpersonal trust. The national corruption survey of 2017 conducted by Proética is used. Two models were built where trust fulfilled different roles. The model that has a good fit establishes that tolerance has a negative effect, while the fight against corruption and the practices of micro-corruption have a direct effect. This last may sound contradictory, but it denotes particularities of the Peruvian political culture.
