Resumen
LOPEZ LUJAN, Leonardo y RUVALCABA SIL, José Luis. Tenochtitlan's Gold: the Archaeological Collection of the Great Temple Project. Estud. cult. náhuatl [online]. 2015, vol.49, pp.7-57. ISSN 0071-1675.
Mexico is a not a country rich in native gold deposits. This would explain why the precious metal was always used rather sparingly in Mesoamerican civilizations. This article will analyze the entire collection of gold pieces from the Great Temple Project in light of various historical, archaeological, and chemical data, and offer new insights about the chronology, typology, function, meaning, manufacturing tradition, and "geographical area of use" of gold in Late Postclassic Central Mexico.
