This study consists of an overview of Azcapotzalco's history from the 13th till the second half of the 16th century. Issues that will be analyzed are its foundation, its internal organization, the origin of the its two ethnic parcialidades, Tepanecapan and Mexicapan, and the reconstruction of the governing lineages. These are important to understand, from a historical perspective, the ways in which certain persons from Azcapotzalco responded to historical events, which will be discussed in the final reflections.
