One of the specific characteristics that distinguish the academic work of the CEIICH community is the remarkable diversity of its lines of research. A recent and reliable expression has been the response of her community to the current pandemic that is plaguing us. Through the expositions made by its researchers in the digital media, a 360-degree fresco of this interdisciplinary phenomenon, which is the Covid-19 epidemic has been generated. From well-established regions of the humanities such as history and anthropology to quantitative epidemiological studies, the works presented covered many of the facets of this phenomenon, the complexity of which has put a stop to our societies.

Because of this variety in its work projects, the Center is a place of passage where established researchers and novices from the most different areas of knowledge imbibe. The diversity of its academic staff translates into the diversity of its guests, particularly those who enjoy postdoctoral stays with researchers.

Thus, the common thread of this issue of the journal is the praxis of its postdoctoral fellows. In its pages we will find quantitative works on complexity theory, on postpartisan utopias, on violence and racism, a very interesting work on the circulation of alternative audiovisual content in a society with high levels of media censorship such as that of Cuba, biases in body representation in the Mexican mass media, the anthropology of education and emotions in social movements.

The French mathematician R. Thom said that a tree is a deployment towards the light. As for the contributions of this issue of the journal, the trunk from which they germinate is the interdisciplinary nature of their contributions, showing the foliage of such a wide plurality of topics as the one we observe in that other major tree, which is our academic abode.
