GARCIA VALLADARES, Miguel Enrique. Defanaticization and iconoclasm, the burning of saints of Tlapacoyan, Veracruz, of 1931. Sig. his [online]. 2018, vol.20, n.40, pp.232-261. Epub 03-Ago-2020. ISSN 1665-4420.
This article analyses the political and social aspects of the religious conflict in Mexico and its effects in central Veracruz in the 1920s and 1930s. It can be observed that the action of social groups in Veracruz was not always as expected by the defanatization project launched by Adalberto Tejeda, governor of Veracruz (1928-1932). Moreover, unlike the Cristero Rebellion (1926-1929), the burning of saints of Tlapacoyan can be particularly seen as an uproar, in which two conflicts converged: the agrarian and the religious one.
