GUTIERREZ GAMBOA, David Ismael; EVANGELISTA GARCIA, Angélica Aremy y ANNE WINTON, Ailsa Margaret. Transgender Sex Workers in Chiapas: The Different Forms of Violence in the Process of Construction and Reaffirmation of Their Gender Identity. Sociológica (Méx.) [online]. 2018, vol.33, n.94, pp.139-168. ISSN 2007-8358.
This article analyzes the structural, institutional, and interpersonal violence that transgender women sex workers experience in Chiapas. The authors carry out a qualitative analysis using the biographical method and an intersectional approach using life stories as research techniques. Through the experiences narrated, they discuss the normative clashes that prompt the constant reaffirmation of their trans identity, intersected with the stigmas attached to sex work, revealing the processes of identity de-legitimization that creates extremely precarious, limited opportunities and life habits.
