BURBOA, Edgardo A. et al. Antioxidant and antibacterial capacity of candelilla extracts residues. []. , 45, 1, pp.51-56. ISSN 1870-0195.

In this work, extracts of candelilla stalks without wax were obtained. The extracts were obtained in reflux conditions with 50 % ethanol at room temperature, the extracts were treated with autoclave for hydrolyzing the obtained compounds and used in subsequent tests, the determination of antioxidant capacity, hemolytic capacity and antimicrobial capacity. In the antioxidant capacity, the extract hydrolyzed at 100 °C for 15 minutes (E15) showed the highest antioxidant capacity. The maximum value for the hemolysis test was obtained with the extract hydrolyzed at 100 °C for 5 minutes (E5), it was more toxic to the blood cells. The antimicrobial capacity was evaluated against Erwinia amylovora, Clavibacter michiganensis and Xanthomonas axonopodis. All extracts showed antimicrobial capacity, the highest against Clavibacter michiganensis.

: candelilla stalks without wax; antioxidant capacity; hemolytic capacity; antumicrobial capacity.
