CORREA CUEVAS, Laura Paloma    HERNANDEZ BALTAZAR, Efrén. Use of microwaves in the pharmaceutical industry. []. , 42, 4, pp.6-25. ISSN 1870-0195.

Microwave applications are growing in the pharmaceutical area. This paper describes the microwave and related mathematical models that describe them. In organic synthesis are used as heat source to provide energy to cross the energy barrier and complete a reaction. Many chemists change traditional heating by microwaves. Drying is mentioned as the main application of microwaves at the industrial level and the use of thermo-cartograms. It also discusses the use of microwave to obtain modified release systems. We show some particular applications of the use of microwaves in the pharmaceutical industry and finally an example of the cost of using microwaves in industrial batch to promote its use in industry.

: microwave; microwave-assisted synthesis; dielectric heating.
