Author Guidelines

Sections of the journal

• Dossier: thematic research articles that vary each issue.
• Research articles: They must have the same characteristics as those of the Dossier, but their subject matter is not limited to the theme of the issue in question.
• Technical reports: articles that describe the results of an experimentation, problems related to construction phenomena or circumstances observed in processes related to the subject matter of the journal.

Handbook for Authors

The author, coordinator or compiler should send to Academia XXII the complete original and its critical apparatus (footnotes, references and bibliography) presented according to the criteria indicated below. It must be sent in a digital file, and comply with the following guidelines:

The text

• The electronic files will be used to form the journal, so it is convenient that the author avoids giving formats that complicate the typesetting, for which we recommend:
• Preferably use Microsoft Word word processor.
• The margins should be 3 cm per side.
• Page size should be letter size (21.5 X 27.5 cm).
• The type size should be 12 points for the body of the text, in Times New Roman.
• The space between lines should be double spaced.
• It should begin with the complete title of the article with a maximum length of 80 characters including spaces, the name of the author or authors, as well as the corresponding author figure (compiler, coordinator, etc.), and the institution to which the participants pertains(s), mentioning only the main affiliation.
• The categories of titles and subtitles should be clearly differentiated.
• Footnotes should be indicated with superscript or superscript numbers.
• Footnotes should be placed at the bottom of the page, in the same type, but smaller than the size of the text (10 points), using the footnote insertion tool.
• The bibliography should include all the publications cited in the book, each entry should have all the data according to the criteria consigned in the bibliography.
• Iconography (photographs, maps, plans, sketches, etc.) must be in TIFF format at 300 dpi.Los archivos electrónicos se usarán para formar la revista, por lo que es conveniente que el autor evite dar formatos que compliquen la composición tipográfica, para lo que recomendamos:

Supporting material

Supporting material (photographs, plans, sketches, maps, tables, illustrations, models, graphs, etc.) should be indicated in parentheses in the text and inserted in the document in the place the author considers most appropriate, with its title, caption or source, as required. As this can generate very heavy and unwieldy files, they should be inserted in the text in low resolution and in a separate folder the files should be saved in 300 dpi. All iconography must have at least this resolution to be accepted. 10 figures maximum.

Structure of the articles

Depending on the section, articles should have a structure as defined below:

• Dossier: It must have title, author, ascription, abstract, keywords, introduction, development, final considerations, references and author's semblance (including e-mail). The length of the title should be no more than 80 characters, the length of the article itself should be between 40,000 and 50,000 characters, including spaces and taking into account all the elements it contains. It must also have an abstract of no more than 700 characters, including spaces and keywords (no more than five). The biographical sketch should have no more than 500 and 800 characters. Likewise, the title of the article, the abstract and the keywords must be translated into English.
• Research articles. Same characteristics as those of the Dossier.
• Technical report: Must include title, author, affiliation, abstract, keywords, introduction, materials and methods, experimentation, conclusions, references and author's biographical sketch (including e-mail). The length of the title should be no more than 80 characters, the length of the article itself should be between 15,000 and 20,000 characters, including spaces and taking into account all the elements it contains. It must also have an abstract of no more than 700 characters, including spaces and keywords (no more than five). Likewise, the title of the article, the abstract and the keywords must be translated into English.

References and citations

Regardless of the source (bibliography, periodicals, electronic references, theses, papers, etc.), the references, which should always include the DOI of the cited reference, shall comply with the "Normas editoriales de Academia XXII" (https://arquitectura.unam.mx/https://drive.google.com/file/d/1IknlLYMZSZMTbIFby0n6zVIivxHCAhCf/view?usp=drive_linkuploads/8/1/1/0/8110907/manual_para_publicar.pdf), which is based on The Chicago Manual of Style (https://www.chicagomanualofstyle.org/tools_citationguide/citation-guide-1.html), and should follow the basic structure of the following example, for the two cases foreseen (at the foot of the page and at the end of the article):

All texts submitted will be reviewed by the Editorial Committee (if at this stage the need for any change or adjustment is detected, it will be returned to the author) and double-blind peer review. Subsequently, a positive or negative resolution will be issued and sent to the author.
